Swim School International grew from the passion of a few avid aquatic professionals in both the swimming and scuba diving worlds.

They were intent upon creating a worldwide, standardized program for swim instruction, open to anyone that wanted to better their abilities and level of swim instruction in their facilities.

The SwimSafer 2.0 programme aims to teach swimming proficiency and water survival skills to children to minimize drowning incedenced in a fun manner.

The siz-stage programme includes survival and activity skills taught each stage of the programme, and work progressively towards the next stage.

At the end of each stage, each child will receive a stage completion e-certificate.

INFANT PROGRAMMES

Suitable for Ages : 0 – 35 months.

Babies have a natural affinity to the water, because they have spent 9 months developing in a safe, warm, and liquid environment.

However, this natural affinity to water will diminish with time and can easily turn into fear.

This is why water introduction has a significant impact on babies comfort and skill in the water.

Water safety skills include wall skills, back floating, safe routines around the water helps babies begin the journey to bring safer swimmers.

Teaching swimmers this young requires a swim teacher to have extreme patience and understanding of reflexes and the child’s way of thinking.

Psychological benefits include

  • Increasing confidence in baby and both parents.
  • Provide stimulus to the vestibular system-body’s system of balance and spatial orientation and awareness.
  • Stimulate blood flow and the sense which promotes overall body functions resulting in improved digestion, sleep, immune system functions.
  • Promotes a positive bond between parents and babies.
  • help babies recognize and manage risk, build and establish trust between parent and child.

INFANT PROGRAMME

Baby Swim I

FINAL GOALS

  • Underwater breath control equal to the count of 10
  • Grabbing the wall and climbing out of the pool
  • Back floating with their ears under the surface of the water
  • Moving forward through water independently using arms and legs.

* Advancement from Baby Swim I may be to Baby Swim II level.
However, your child will have to enter Aquatike 1 when he or she become 3 years old before mastering all skills.

  • 18 feet (6m) swim with arms and legs
  • Independent rollover breath

TODDLER PROGRAMMES

Suitable for Ages : 3 years and above

Fear for water is real, but it should not be a barrier to learning to swim.

Setting realistic goals that a 3 year old can understand is the way to get around this fear.

Aquatikes are developing a whole host of new skills, including developing more independence, asserting their wants, and learning about friendship.

The Swim School International program keeps swimmers of the same age together because of their similar maturity, attention span, and physical development.

TODDLER PROGRAMME

Aquatike 1

FINAL GOALS

  • Reach and Pull 2m (7ft)
  • Demonstrate 10 count of breath control with their face in the water.
  • Perform a five count independent back float.

* If Aquatike I swimmers master their skills while still 3 years old, they will advance to Aquatike II class.
* However, if a swimmer turns 4 years old, they should instead advance to Preschool I class.

* Student is subjected to assessment for placement upon enrolment.

Aquatike II

FINAL GOALS

  • Swim 3m (10ft) using Windmill Arms
  • Perform an independent Rollover Breath

* 3 year old Aquatike II swimmers will advance to Aquatike III 
* 4 year old would enter Preschool II .

TODDLER PROGRAMME

Aquatike III

FINAL GOALS

  • Swim 6m (20ft) using Windmill Arms
  • Perform an Independent & Rollover Breath and resume Windmill Arms to their intended target.

* Aquatike III swimmers will stay in this class at age 3.
* 4 year old will advance to Beginner II .

TODDLER PROGRAMME

Preschool I

FINAL GOALS

  • Swim 3m (10ft) using Windmill Arms
  • Assisted Rollover Breath
  • Back float independently for a 10 count

* Swimmers that have achieved mastery of the final goals of this level should advance to the Preschool II class.
* If they are nearing 6 years of age, advance to Beginner I .

TODDLER PROGRAMME

Preschool II

FINAL GOALS

  • Swim 6m (20ft) with Windmill Arms
  • Independent Rollover breath, then resume Windmill Arms to the target.

* Swimmers capable of the final goals should move to Beginner II . If they cannot perform this final goal, they shold go to Beginner I at age 6.

KIDS/TEENS PROGRAMMES

Suitable for Ages : 4.5 – 12 years old

For older swimmers who are beginners, their fear may be deeply ingrained as they may have had very little experience with swimming or had a traumatic experience in the past.

KIDS / TEENS PROGRAMME

Beginner I

FINAL GOALS

  • Swim 6m (20ft) using Windmill Arms
  • Independent Rollover Breath, and resume Windmill Arms to their target.
  • Both arms and legs should be used in forward motion.

KIDS / TEENS PROGRAMME

Beginner II

FINAL GOALS

  • Swimming 12m (40ft) with Windmill Arms.
  • Independent rollover breathing.

KIDS / TEENS PROGRAMME

SwimSafer Stage 1

INTRODUCTION TO WATER SKILLS

The objective is develop confidence and independence in the water, learn general and deep-end water safety. Techniques taught include the forward and backward movement, safe entry and exit and personal water safety.

SwimSafer Stage 2

FUNDAMENTAL WATER SKILLS

General skill development including unassisted step entry into water, sculling, feet first surface dives, personal water safety skills as well as water safety in aquatic environments. One of the goals is to achieve 25 metres of continuous swimming.

SwimSafer Stage 3

PERSONAL AND STROKE DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

Entry skills such as the stride jump will be taught. Skills include sculling, underwater skills and putting on a personal flotation device (PFD) whilst in water and swimming with it. One of the goals is to achieve 50 metres of continuous swimming.

Bronze

PERSONAL SURVIVAL AND STROKE IMPROVEMENT SKILLS

Development of student’s stroke techniques is a focus here, along with coordinated breathing in deep water. This stage sees the introduction of throw rescues and more personal survival skills. One of the goals is to achieve 100 metres of a variety of strokes.

Silver

INTERMEDIATE PERSONAL SURVIVAL AND STROKE REFINEMENT SKILLS 

Fundamentals of diving will be introduced. Development of personal survival knowledge will continue with a situational context of swimming quickly away from a sinking boat. Students will be required to demonstrate efficient stroke techniques by swimming a variety of strokes over 200 metres within a given time frame.

Gold

ADVANCE PERSONAL SURVIVAL & SWIMMING SKILL PROFICIENCY

Students will be required to perform a variety of strokes with efficiency over 400 metres within a given time frame for each stroke. Personal survival skills like making use of clothing to make a personal floatation device and swimming with them, putting on a life jacket in water and demonstrating the Heat Escape Lessening Posture technique will be taught.

KIDS / TEENS PROGRAMME

Level 1 /2 /3 /4 /5 /6

DETAILS

A total of 20 certificates and badges can be attained if the swimmer completes all the levels. The swimmer may wish to challenge himself or herself by attempting any particular level of swim test.

After completion of level 1, 2 or 3, the swimmer has an option to purchase a rainbow certificate and badge.

ADULT PROGRAMMES

Swimmers of all ages are welcomed here at Sttitude Swim School.
